New GNCR Feature Coming 2 November: Understand What Information is Available

From 2 November 2026, users of the Great North Care Record (GNCR) will see a new information (i) button available on every widget within GNCR.

The new functionality has been introduced to provide greater transparency about the information that is available within GNCR. It helps users better understand where data is available from different sources that contribute to each section of the record.

Why is this important?

GNCR brings together information from a wide range of health and care organisations to support patient care. However, not every organisation or clinical system currently contributes all information to the GNCR.

As a result, users may not always know:

  • What information they should expect to see
  • Where the displayed information has originated from
  • Which organisations are contributing data
  • Where all the information can be found
  • What information may not currently be available within GNCR

Think of GNCR as a book where some pages are available and others are still being added. The information shown is valuable, but understanding what is included is just as important as knowing what may not yet be available.

Benefits for users

The new feature will help users:

  • Better understand the scope of information available in GNCR
  • Quickly identify where data has originated from
  • Quickly identify where information can be viewed
  • Use GNCR with greater confidence
  • Make more informed decisions when reviewing patient information
  • Recognise where information may not currently be available within the record

The information (i) button will be available automatically for all users from 2 November.
