Did you know? Maternity information is available through Great North Care Record (GNCR)

Maternity

When caring for patients, having access to the right information at the right time can make all the difference. Through GNCR, staff can access a range of information, including maternity data, clinical correspondence, medications, allergies, ambulance records and referrals.

Many health and care professionals across the North East and North Cumbria may not realise that maternity information is available through the GNCR, helping provide a more complete picture of care across organisational boundaries.

Through GNCR, staff can access maternity information from participating trusts who share data, without needing to log into separate systems. This gives health and care professionals quicker access to important information, including:

  • Maternity appointments
  • Care plans
  • Risk assessments
  • Maternity contacts
  • Safeguarding information

This helps to support informed decision-making, improves continuity and quality of care, and reduces the need to contact other services for information.

Over the last year, maternity data sharing has been rolled out across the region as part of a collaborative programme involving maternity services and GNCR. While awareness was raised at launch, recent conversations with healthcare professionals suggest many users are still unaware that this information is available.

If you work in a role where maternity information may support patient care, now is a good time to explore what is available through GNCR.
