Maternity data coming to Great North Care Record from July 2024

The Great North Care Record (GNCR) and the North East and North Cumbria Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) have worked together to start sharing maternity data, directly from their electronic patient record (EPR), into GNCR. From July 2024, Gateshead Hospital will become the first Trust to start sharing maternity data into GNCR, with over Trusts following in due course.

Local maternity services delivered across the region are all using one single system, BadgerNet, to record and manage their patient data.

The first phase will share information that is typically included within a pregnancy summary, which will include the following data:

  • Patient demographics
  • Encounters
  • Medications
  • Future appointments
  • Professional contacts
  • Allergies and adverse reactions
  • Vital signs
  • Vaccinations
  • Social context
  • Mental health
  • Previous pregnancy details
  • Risk assessments
  • Care plans

This is a first-of-type with our suppliers and health colleagues. It is anticipated that this will continue to expand and grow as the integration becomes more established.

A maternity-specific GNCR patient information leaflet has been co-produced with the NENC LMNS. The leaflet has also been translated into different languages and ‘Easy Read’ format.

What next?

The new maternity data training package will be launched and available from Monday 22nd April 2024.

There are two different GNCR training sessions to choose from, based on your existing knowledge of GNCR. From Monday, both sessions will be updated with an overview of the new maternity data feed.

Please book and secure your space now at Staff Training section of the GNCR website. You can also contact the team by email.
