Great North Care Record shortlisted for the 2024 HSJ Digital Awards
The Great North Care Record is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for the Connecting health and social care through digital category at the 2024 HSJ Digital Awards, recognising innovative digital projects transforming care delivery, enhance efficiency, and improve patient outcomes.
343 entries have been received for this year’s Digital Awards, with 165 projects and individuals meriting inclusion on the final shortlist. The high volume – and exceptional quality – of applications once again mirrors the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed across the UK’s healthcare system.
Following the thorough judging process, the Great North Care Record was shortlisted, ahead of the official awards ceremony to be held on 6 June 2024, as standing out as a real ‘success story’ worthy of a prized place on the panel’s shortlist.
The Great North Care Record (GNCR) is improving the quality and safety of patient care for the 3.2 million people living across the North East and North Cumbria. This shared care record enables thousands of health and care staff, across 68 organisations, to view patient information held in multiple different clinical systems to provide integrated care and improve patient outcomes. The GNCR covers the largest geographic Integrated Care Board (ICB), averages over 600,000 views per month, and has reached over 13 million interactions since launch, making it one of Cerner’s largest and most used shared care record in the UK.
Professor Graham Evans, Executive Chief Digital and Information Officer, NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, said: “It is brilliant to see the GNCR shortlisted for the Connecting Health and Social Care through Digital category in the HSJ Digital Awards. The GNCR is the digital glue which connects our regional health and care providers together and plays an evolving and increasingly important role to help staff make the right decisions, at the right time, to improve patient care.
“To be shortlisted for the award highlights the importance of the platform and is fantastic recognition for all the staff involved in developing, rolling out and using the GNCR.”
Lisa Sewell, GNCR Programme Director, added: “Since the launch of the GNCR in 2020, and the foundations which were put in place before that, our system has continued to demonstrate value for users when sharing data. The past 12 months have seen the GNCR grow exponentially, engaging closely with our users across the region and shared care record colleagues.
“It’s great to see this work and impact recognised with being shortlisted in the HSJ Digital Awards and something which the team and our region take great pride in.”
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan, adds; “It always gives me great pleasure to congratulate our finalists at this stage of the judging process and this year is no exception as we acknowledge the Great North Care Record for being shortlisted in the category of Connecting health and social care through digital.
“We can’t wait to welcome our finalists to the awards ceremony in June, celebrating their impressive achievements and jointly acknowledging our values of sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and continuously driving for better service.”
The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Manchester Central on 6th June 2024.
