Patient Engagement Platform

The Great North Care Record aims to improve the health and care experience for the 3.6 million people who live in the North East and North Cumbria. The Patient Engagement Platform (PEP) is one of three modules making up the Great North Care Record programme.

PEP will give people living or receiving treatment in the North East and North Cumbria a way of interacting digitally with NHS and social care services. PEP will transform the experience for people in the North East and North Cumbria when they engage and interact with health and social care system.

The project is being led and implemented on behalf of the region by The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

PEP will interoperate with the existing NHS App which will provide one digital front door for people living in our region. The PEP will build on the capability within the NHS App and offer more functionality.

In the initial scope for the project, people using services in our region will be able to:

  • Receive and manage their hospital appointments
  • Receive clinical correspondence electronically
  • Set their correspondence and data sharing preferences

We will add more functions over time which will include patient questionnaires or smart home interaction.

We are working to launch PEP in late 2020. To find out more about PEP email us or join our online network.
