Health Information Exchange: GP data go-live date confirmed

GP data on the regional Health Information Exchange (HIE) will go-live on 9 March 2020.
The HIE is replacing the Medical Interoperability Gateway (MIG) and will initially make GP records available. There will be a period of dual running both systems until 31 March 2020 when the MIG contract ends.
This gives the project team time to review the performance of the HIE before the MIG is de-activated.
After the 31 March 2020, MIG will no longer be available in the North East and HIE will be the primary source of patient data.
The HIE is a key component of the Great North Care Record and ensures that health and care staff have access to the right information about the people they treat.
Over 98 per cent of GPs who currently share data on the MIG have signed the data sharing agreements. 86 per cent have completed the system configuration which allows their data to be technically made available. The project team is working closely with the remaining practices and their CCGs to support their transfer to HIE before the MIG contracts end.
There are six short training videos available which show staff how to use the HIE. Email the team if you want to access the training videos.
If you have any issues accessing or using HIE, please contact your local IT helpdesk.
